Voice Characterization: Andy Berman

Cardnal was born in 1991, on the planet Aviat. His mother was real estate agent, and his father left them when he was five. Growing up, he found that he loved to travel. When he entered middle school, he seemed to have a knack for geography, and excelled in mathematics. As a child, his mother supported him by buying him road maps and such. Eventually, he began leaving the maps behind, and mapping their trips out himself. He would return home, to see how accurate they were. However, when middle school rolled around, his mother had to step up with Cardnal's talent, and began buying him maps of countries and territories across Aviat.

When he graduated from schooling, he left his mother with the dream of being a cartographer for the space exploration teams of his species. Around this time, Aviat had only been in space for about ten years, so there was a great deal to learn and map. Cardnal knew he needed to start small and work his way up, so he traveled Aviat with the maps his mother gave him, and did what he had done as a child. Map the area himself, and check his work. Eventually he realized that the land masses were changing, and began remapping Aviat over the old maps.

Over the following year, it became clear that Aviat was in great danger. The gravity of Lumid, (the star Aviat revolved around), was pulling in the planets that revolved around it. It was growing, and was ready to die. Cardnal knew this meant the destruction of the solar system, and had no idea how to save his species. They hadn't been in space nearly long enough to develop a station that could support his planet's life, and travel quickly enough to exit the solar system before Lumid explodes. Luckily, they had developed a spacecraft with enough fuel efficiency to travel near three years into space and return. It was originally an information gathering pod, only large enough to fit one.

Cardnal knew this was the only way to find help, and so he hijacked it at the unveiling, and jetted off into space, mapping his exact path from where he came, so he could find his way home once he found help. Among scientists on his planet, there had been discussion of great signs of civilization in a solar system a few hundred billion miles, *Lumid mapping, southwest, afore of Aviat's solar system. This is where Cardnal headed, in hopes of finding this civilization and retrieving help to extract his species from Aviat, and finding a home for them elsewhere.

When Cardnal arrived in the Milky Way Galaxy, he had no idea where to find help. He knew that every vehicle in the universe required fuel, and so he set up shop in a solar system not far from the Sun, about a quarter turn left of Earth's. Here, on a tiny planet, he set up a fueling station where he sold his ship's fuel for information on any governmental agencies with the authority to assemble a fleet large enough to sustain his species. This is where his business was destroyed by the Dreadknot.

The Dreadknot was in desperate need of fuel, and with no navigator, there was no telling how long it would be until they came across a fueling station. When they spotted Cardnal's little shop in the middle of nowhere, it was evident that this was likely the only opportunity they would have to refuel for millions of miles. During their decent to Cardnal's fueling planet, the fuel ran out, and they coasted at high speed straight into the station. Cardnal gave them his story, and The Captain agreed to pirate Aviat for all it was worth, and leave Cardnal and his species there, to a gruesome death. Grim as that may have seemed, Cardnal took a chance with what would possibly be his only chance to save his species. He helped fuel the Dreadknot, and joined the crew as their much-needed and very talented navigator.

Cardnal is a bird/boy hybrid. He looks much like a human boy, only covered head to toe in red feathers. He sees some kind of greatness in The Captain, and develops a starry-eyed image of his heroism.

For the most part, he acts quite a bit like a human boy as well, however, under certain circumstances, (fish-bearing bodies of water), the bird in him comes barreling out.

This is the Captain speaking...Now leaving cognition.
